I don't want my Discord chat to be spatialized - what do I do?
If you're using Discord or another VoIP service with Immerse, you may have noticed your chat being spatialized. When Immerse is running, it automatically sets itself as your computer's Default output device.
If your Discord voice output is also set to "Default," that means it is being routed through Immerse. To avoid this, simply change your voice Output Device in Discord directly to your headphone output. In the following screenshot, our headphone output is Speakers (Sound Blaster X AE-5 Plus).
This same concept will apply to any other VoIP service. To avoid routing your chat through Immerse binaural rendering, set your VoIP output device directly to your headphone output. That's it!
Please note that Discord must be restarted after launching Immerse if you want them to work together.
I'm recording/streaming binaural audio with Immerse. How do I prevent my Discord audio from being captured?
In order to capture binaural audio with Immerse, you have to set your audio output capture in your recording software to match your Immerse output device, i.e. your headphone output. If your Discord voice is set to output to your headphones as well, it will be included in the recording.
To avoid this, you will need to use a hardware of software mixer that splits your headphone output into multiple channels. For example, when using a GoXLR hardware mixer you can set Immerse to output to the Game channel while setting Discord to output to the Chat channel. Then in OBS (or other recording software), you can capture only the Game channel. Even though you'll hear Discord in your headphones, your recording software will not capture it.
Set Discord output to "Chat" | Set Immerse output to "Game" | Capture "Game" in OBS |
